Sr. Laetitia’s New Years Goals and Resolutions

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

In spirit of the New Year, we would like to share the priorities that Sister Laetitia has for the 2023 school year for MGS!

INCREASE TEACHER TRAININGS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR FOR ALL SUBJECTS AND PROMOTE STUDENT CENTERED LEARNING:

  • Encourage the use of technology in teaching and learning

  • Onsite science lab mentoring by qualified Rwandan teachers during the school year; and

  • The use of on-line teaching resources and e-books

SUPPORT STUDENT DEVELOPMENT AND OVERALL HEALTH AND WELLNESS THROUGH:

  • Strengthen the MGS sports and physical education program including volleyball and basketball practices, and other sports

  • Supporting MGS teams with coaches, sporting equipment, and participation in interschool and other competitions

ICT DEVELOPMENT

  • Increase the time for student’s to conduct research in the library and smart classrooms

  • Encourage student’s to write their academic papers and essays using their own laptops

  • Train the students on the use and good practice of online research and learning, and digital citizenship by connecting their research to community needs

  • Include new skills development including Zoom, Google docs, Power Point, and graphics

CAREER AND COLLEGE COUNSELING EDUCATION

  • Provide assistance on how to complete applications including essay writing, recommendations, and extracurriculars

  • Prepare field visits, career fairs and conferences (live and virtual) with various professionals in various careers

  • Help students assess their interests and aptitudes through on-line programs and explore potential careers paths

MGS LEARNING HUB

  • Keep the legacy of MGS as a model school of excellence, resource and a learning hub for the local community beyond the school.

  • Coordinate with the other Benebikira schools to share resources which will enable 16 satellite learning hubs across the Benebikira network.
